Sigma Alimentos

Designing and building the website for a pioneering design studio within a Sigma Alimentos, shaping its digital presence for a successful launch.

Project Overview

To advance IDEO's ongoing dialogue with Meaty and establish a collaborative Design Lab within their business, our objective was to conceptualize a microsite introducing "The Studio" and the array of design roles it encompasses. This initiative falls under the realm of Business Development, serving as a pivotal element within our pitch to maintain and expand our partnership with this long-term client.

The Challenge

Sigma Alimentos is challenged with aligning its business and culture long-term transformation towards responsibility, sustainability, and delight.

The Solution

Establishing a design studio to cultivate design mastery, embed consumer-centricity, and drive cultural transformation, while supporting Sigma Alimentos’ commitment to sustainability, responsibility, and growth.

Process

During the initial two-day sprint, I collaborated closely with the visual communication designer to craft wireframes for the microsite, as part of IDEO's pitch for a design lab within the company. I began by looking at other career sites and drawing inspiration from the layout. We decided we would make this a one-page website, so I looked into methods for making the content concise, yet engaging.

Leveraging IDEO's visual assets for this company, we integrated them into our design process. As the viscomm designer continued to design the website layout, I translated our wireframes into a prototype using Squarespace. We chose this website builder because we were on a quickly approaching deadline and Squarespace is known for their easy to build websites and user-friendly interface.

After building for a day, I quickly realized the lack of customization available on the website builder– I navigated around that through CSS to create certain elements and interactions such as the typography and button hover states. I struggled with the lack of responsiveness on the website.

After conducting research and speaking with other interaction designers about their favorite website, I decided to use Readymag to continue this process because it proved to be more responsive and customizable.

I spent two days building the website as the designs were being finalized. From conceptualization to execution, we ensured a seamless user experience across both mobile and desktop platforms.
